Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has concluded plans to welcome his wife Olori Elizabeth Akinmuda to the palace.
The Ooni is said to have sent invitation to dignitaries to the wedding thanksgiving service and reception of his queen.
The invitation notice dated May 10, 2023 invites family and friends to the thanksgiving service and reception scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2023.
The event will be preceded by the traditional entry of Olori Elizabeth into the ancient Oodua Palace of Ile-Ife on Thursday, May 18, reports City People.
A palace source was quoted as saying the queen will be welcomed officially into the palace as the wedding had already been held.
It was first reported last September that Ooni was going to marry Olori Elizabeth.
It was learnt at the time that some chiefs from the palace visited her family in the Magodo area of Lagos for the wedding rites.
Before her wedding to the monarch, Olori Elizabeth was an information technology-executive based in Glasgow, Scotland and a native of Ondo City in Ondo State. She is said to be in her mid-30s and is a friend of a former minister for aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.
Towards the end of 2022, Oba Ogunwusi married five wives, months after the mother of his heir Evangelist Silekunola Naomi, whom he married in 2018, left him.
His other wives are Olori Mariam, Olori Ashley, Olori Tobi, Olori Ronke, and Olori Temitope.
The king had two other unsuccessful marriages. In 2008, he got married to Adebukola Bombata before he ascended the throne in 2015. But the union ended.
In 2016, he married Zaynab Wuraola Otiti, a Bini princess. The union ended due to irreconcilable differences.
