Roots and Heritage Renaissance Culture Initiative (RHRCI), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) with a vision to preserve the history, culture and heritage of Africans at home and abroad will be inaugurated at Oranmiyan Hall, Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos on Sunday, October 29.
Ooni of Ife and Grand patron of RHRCI, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, will be the royal father of the day.
The group, whose membership strength of over 350 people at inception in May 2016 has risen to over 1,000 as of date, will use its formal inauguration to launch #IAMIDIA Project to celebrate 40 years existence of the Festac 77 Idia Mask and to attract national and international attention to its present location.
According to RHRCI president, Dotun Taylor, the project will also birth a film about the mask to draw global attention to its historical significance and call for its repatriation to Nigeria from Britain.
The RHRCI launch, which will be hosted by popular Nollywood actor, Femi Adebayo, will see the conferment of honour on Prof. Toun Ogunseye, Moses Olaiya (Baba Sala) and other distinguished Nigerians who have immensely contributed to country’s history.
