Queen Mariam Ogunwusi, wife of the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, could not hold back her joy on Tuesday night as she got married to the first class monarch.
Mariam stood out on her big day in a stylish gold lace with her face well made up.
The oil and gas executive was flanked by her relatives as she danced excitedly into the palace to meet her husband and their guests.
Mariam (nee Anako) was welcomed into the palace in the traditional way as women sprayed red substance on her legs as is done for women going into their husband’s house for the first time.
Drummers and singers got everyone dancing their hearts out as guests waited to receive the new wife.
Anako is from Ebira ethnic group in Kogi State. She works at Nestoil Limited, an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning company in the oil and gas sector.
The Ooni managed to keep his moves away from the public as it was gathered that the family introduction took place in the first quarter of the year where the Ooni’s in-laws met with him.
Ooni, who is 47 years old, will be hoping that his marriage to Mariam lasts after his last three failed marriages.
The first-class monarch was previously married to Adebukola Bombata in 2008, before he ascended the throne in 2015.
He also had a short-lived teenage romance with Omolara Olatunbosun who bore a child, Adeola Anuoluwapo, for him in 1994.
His marriage to Zaynab Wuraola Otiti, a Bini princess, in March 2016 failed due to irreconcilable differences.
Ooni married Naomi Silekunola in October 2018. But three years later, just before Christmas, she announced her separation from him.
