Media personality Ahmed Isah has apologised for assaulting his interviewee accused of setting her brother’s daughter on fire over an allegation that the girl was a witch.
Popularly known as Ordinary President, Mr Isah appeared in a BBC Africa Eye documentary slapping a woman at least twice on set.
Popular in Abuja, Isah has gained a reputation for helping ordinary people get justice via his radio and television shows. He is the host of a programme Brekete Family which airs on Human Rights Radio 101.1 in Abuja and streams online via social media platforms.
The programme offers ordinary citizens the opportunity to tell their stories bordering on the injustice they have experienced.
A video of the attack on the woman went viral on social media on Monday, drawing criticism from many.
Isah, however, said on Wednesday during his live radio programme that he was sorry for his reaction.
“I am sorry for slapping her, I want all our listeners globally to forgive me. I am human bound to make mistakes. I am just being emotional, I am sorry,” he said.
