Zina Kalu, daughter of the Senate Chief Whip Orji Kalu has been called to the Nigerian bar.
Ms Kalu joined over 4,000 persons who were inducted into the legal profession in Abuja on Tuesday.
Kalu, a former governor of Abia State, shared photos from the ceremony on his Facebook page and prayed for his daughter.
“Congratulations to our beautiful daughter Zina, on her call to the bar. May God keep blessing you forever and always. Your hard work finally paid off. We feel so proud of you sweetheart,” he wrote.
Some politicians seen at the call to bar ceremony include minister of works and housing Babatunde Fashola and Senator Seriake Dickson. Both men are lawyers.
The call to bar ceremony was presided over by the chairman of the Body of Benchers (BoB) Wole Olanipekun in spite of the controversy surrounding him.
The leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) shunned the ceremony over Olanipekun’s refusal to step aside for the BoB to probe his law firm over alleged misconduct.
