Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, says he is concerned about the unending Tiv/Jukun crisis that has claimed many lives on both sides.
The governor shared his concerns on Monday during the swearing-in of four special advisers at the government house in Makurdi.
The four special advisers are Jerome Torshimbe, Paul Hemba, Magdalyne Dura and Joseph Odaudu.
Mr Ortom said his administration had made efforts to end the communal crisis, saying that he was afraid it would spill into Benue.
“The crisis started several years ago and successive administrations have tried but this persisted.
“This administration has also made concerted efforts with the governor of Taraba State at ensuring that peace reign in the two states,” he said.
The governor called on the two ethnic groups to embrace peace.
Ortom told his new advisers to continue in their diligence, commitment and dedication to duty which earned them re-appointment after serving in his first tenure.
He also urged them to be prudent in the discharge of their duties and avoid corruption.
