Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom’s convoy has been involved in an accident on its way to Makurdi from Abuja.
Mr Ortom’s media aide Terver Akase in a statement said the convoy was involved in an accident on Sunday shortly after accompanying the governor to the Abuja airport.
The statement read, “The governor’s convoy was on the way from Abuja to Makurdi after accompanying him to the airport for his trip to the United Kingdom when a Golf car collided with one of the security vehicles.
“We thank God that no life was lost in the incident. Governor Ortom, who has already arrived safely in the UK, deeply appreciates all the calls and concerns from Benue people and other Nigerians.”
Ortom is expected to spend two weeks both in the United Kingdom and United States of America.
Akase said the governor was invited as a special guest to two international summits this week in the UK and United States.
He added that the events will focus on peace-building, social justice and sustainable development in Nigeria as well as other parts of the world.
