Gunmen have killed the manager of a hotel belonging to ex-Nigerian international footballer, Osaze Odemwingie, in Edo State on Sunday.
The hotel known as the Odemwingie Hotel is located at Upper Sokponba Road, in the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
Osato Okunkpolo, the murdered manager was married to a journalist, Anita Okunkpolo, who works with a local newspaper in Bénin City.
Reports indicate that gunmen shooting in the vicinity of the hotel shot Okunkpola dead.
DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, the public relations officer of the Edo Police Command confirmed the incident and said Okunkpolo was hit by a bullet in a shootout between two rival cult groups.
Nwabuzor said members of Eiye and Aye cults were locked in a shootout in the area of the hotel on Sunday night.
