Oba Kiladejo’s trip also coincided with, and added glamour to, the 2015 Ekimogun Day in Dallas, Texas, USA.
The Ekimogun Day in Dallas was well attended by both the Ondo indigenes and non-indigenes in America, United Kingdom and other parts of Europe.
While addressing Ondo Indigenes in Texas, Oba Kiladejo, who is also the Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas, stated that he visited London and Dallas not just to celebrate the Ekimogun Day with his people, but also to interact with potential investors and indigenes of Ondo to be part of the transformational vision of Ondo town in particular and Ondo State in general.
The Ondo City Vision 2015 project was conceived in 2010 during the celebration of five centuries of kingship, Osemawe noted. It aims to modernise Ondo town, making it sustainable city in the 21st century and beyond.
He noted, “We envision that we must live in a community with a well-planned environment, using a well-coordinated and accelerated approach. This is the thrust of the Ondo City Vision 2015 project. We have identified the required platforms of development. These are: infrastructure development and government liaison unit, education with emphasis on ICT, commerce through a chamber of commerce, mines, industry and agriculture, cultural renaissance unit with emphasis on revisiting, modernising and promoting all aspects of culture, funding and corporate social responsibility sub-committee, project coordination and implementation; and proclamation sub-committee.”
On accountability, Kiladejo said all the money realised and spent on the Ondo City Vision 2015 would be properly accounted for, adding that a detailed financial and accounting report on the project would be made available to all the indigenes of Ondo both home and abroad.
The Monarch also met with members of staff, office of the Mayors of Dallas and Desoto cities.
At the Mayors’ office, Osemawe used the opportunity to say that his vision is for Ondo town to become the first mega city in Ondo State by December 2015.
He reiterated that Ondo has the right people who are ready to work, along with resources and politically friendly environment with adequate security.
He was awarded an Honorary Citizenship of Dallas by Mayor Mike Rawlings.
