Veteran actress Gloria Anozie-Young has said that many women do not report domestic abuse.
Gloria said this during a recent Instagram live session while speaking on the ways to help victims of domestic abuse following the death of gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu.
She said the only way to help those in abusive relationship or marriage is to create awareness and send out messages.
Gloria Anozie-Young, however, noted that many women do not report domestic abuse.
“The only way we can help any and everyone, we need to create the awareness, send out messages, what are the things to watch out for? What are the signs to watch out for what do you do in such situations?
“Continue to educate people, continue the conversation, keep talking, there will be a day the light bulb will come up in their heads and they will be like is that what has been happening and then they will take the step in the right direction so that is the only thing to do, you can take a woman out of her home, you can get her away from there and she would go back and then, of course, she will die. So we need to keep talking about it, that is the only way,” she said.
Continuing, she said, “Naturally, the laws have been put in place, enabling laws are there but how many women will report their husbands? How many women will go to that extent, they are not many.”
