The trial of Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu, has been adjourned till June 20 and June 21.
Mr Nwachukwu was due to appear at the FCT High Court Judge on Thursday and Friday but the trial was stalled due to Justice Njideka Nwosu-Iheme’s absence.
On June 3, the court remanded Nwachukwu at the Kuje Correctional Facility, pending the hearing and determination of the homicide-related suit instituted against him by the attorney general of the federation.
Justice Nwosu-Iheme gave the order after he pleaded not guilty to 23 counts bordering on domestic violence and homicide, among others.
However, in a video uploaded to YouTube, Nwachukwu could be heard saying, “I’ve suffered a lot, I’ve suffered, I’ve been abandoned, what killed my wife is cancer of the lungs, not me. I’m suffering for what I didn’t pass through, what I don’t know.”
Osinachi died on April 8 at the National Hospital, Abuja. She is alleged to have been subjected to years of domestic abuse.
