Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Governors Gboyega Oyetola (Osun) and Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo) visited lawyer Wale Babalakin on Saturday in Gbongan, Osun State following the death of his father Justice Bolarinwa Babalakin.
Osinbajo said he had a memorable encounter with the late Babalakin when the Lagos State Government was having a running battle with former President Olusegun Obasanjo over the creation of new local government areas.
He said that the late Babalakin, when consulted about the issue, gave the most candid advice on how to resolve the matter.
Osinbajo said the death of the former Supreme Court justice was not only a big loss to the family, but to the nation as a whole.
Akeredolu said he learnt a lot from the late Babalakin as they were members of the same branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In his remarks, Oyetola said the late Babalakin would be greatly missed. He noted that there was hardly any state activity that he was not a part of.
Responding on behalf of the family, Wale said his father had instructed them not to mourn if he lived beyond 80, adding that his father was never afraid of death.
