Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has held a ‘private’ meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Mr Gbajabiamila arrived in the company of some members of the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
The meeting began around 3.05pm on Monday at the Vice President’s office in Aso Rock, Abuja.
The meeting is the first between the two after Gbajabiamila was elected speaker on June 11.
Speaking with reporters afterwards, Gbajabiamila said the meeting was about moving the country forward.
“Those were the issues we discussed; it was not a personal visit, but you can call it a hybrid between personal and official, but mostly official, addressing the issues of the problem.
“We discussed how the executive and the legislature can collaborate to make life better for Nigeria and Nigerians,” he said.
Gbajabiamila emerged speaker after shaking off challenge from Mohammed Bago of Niger State.
He secured 284 votes to defeat Mr Bago who garnered a paltry 76 votes.
The Lagos legislator has been his party’s favourite for the position after breaking protocol by publicly declaring his interest.
