Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday met behind closed doors with Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, over threat by the Federation International Football Association (FIFA) to slam sanction on Nigeria.
The meeting which was convened shortly after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting might not be unconnected with the threat by world football governing body’s insistence on sanctioning the country over government interference.
President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick had earlier met with Osinbajo before the commencement of the FEC meeting.
FIFA had on Tuesday threatened to suspend Nigeria over the crisis occasioned by Dalung’s support for factional NFF chairman, Chris Giwa.
Nigeria will face the wrath of world football’s governing body unless “the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) offices are handed back to the legitimate NFF executive committee under President Amaju Melvin Pinnick,” a FIFA statement warned.
