Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has met with musician Patoranking, born Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie.
The duo met at the launch of the Timbuktoo Fintech Hub in Lagos on July 9.
Osinbajo shared photos of the event on Instagram on Wednesday night, with the words, “At the launch of the Timbuktoo Fintech Hub, interacting with the first cohort of the Timbuktoo Fintech Bootcamp reaffirmed my belief that young people across Africa do not see the borders or limitations that we see.
“They operate within a borderless world, are futuristic in their thinking, and exude incredible optimism and energy. It is this energy and spirit of innovation that will power Nigeria and, indeed, the Africa of our dreams.”
At the event, Patoranking was unveiled as the regional goodwill ambassador for youth innovation and enterprise through UNDP Africa and champion for Timbuktoo Africa.
The UNDP said the singer’s voice will amplify its mission to empower young African entrepreneurs and drive innovation across the continent.
On his appointment, Patoranking said, “Empowering African youth by providing them with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive is a cause close to my heart. I step into this role to lend my voice to important initiatives that hold immense potential to change development for many of our people through innovation and technology driven by the ingenuity and ambition of the continent’s majority – the young people.”
The ‘Abule’ singer will also play a crucial role in advocacy for the Timbuktoo initiative, which features 10 thematic vertical hubs in Accra, Cairo, Cape Town, Casablanca, Dakar, Addis Ababa, Kigali, Lagos, Nairobi, Lusaka, and Timbuktoo university innovation pods (UniPods) based across the African continent.
