Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Saturday for the burial of mother of the Senior Pastor, Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare.
Madam Abigail Bakare died at his son’s Lagos residence on May 5 at the age of 108.
She was interred at the family house in Sodeke, Abeokuta after a funeral service at Victory Life Bible Church, Ajebo Road, also in Abeokuta.
Also present at the funeral were Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, and his wife, Olufunso; Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Bola Tinubu; Chairman, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and Forte Oil Chairman, Femi Otedola.
Others were former Governors Segun Osoba and Otunba Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State; Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun; Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, and Director General, Export Promotion Council, Segun Awolowo.
Speaking at the funeral, Pastor Bakare said “I am grateful to God that Mama did not die while I was outside the country. It was a pact between us that she would die while I am in the country.
“I returned to the country from the United Kingdom of 4th May, and Mama passed on 5th May, 2018.
“Mama carried a heavy load of intercession for me. I will definitely miss Mama. It’s like a part of me is gone. She was a great cook. ”
He added that his mother predicted that guests would come from all corners of the world for her funeral.
“She predicted that people from every corner of the world would come to bury her. I’m so grateful because we are giving her a befitting burial. She is irreplaceable forever. I will continue to cherish her memory forever. The exit was glorious,” the cleric said.
President Muhammadu Buhari, who contested the 2011 presidential election with Bakare as vice-presidential candidate, was represented at the funeral by Mrs Adeosun.
