Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday paid a visit to Senator Kabiru Gaya, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Kano South at the Senate, who lost his son, Sadiq Gaya.
Sadiq, a lawyer at the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), died on Tuesday afternoon in Abuja.
Osibanjo was accompanied by Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and some top government officials on the condolence visit.
Osinbajo posted photos of his visit to Gaya on Twitter. He said he was fond of Sadiq.
“Sadiq Gaya was like a son to me, he was a lawyer like me and we had a special relationship. His demise is a personal loss.
“I commiserate and condole with Senator Kabiru Gaya and all members of his family over the loss of our precious son,” Osinbajo said.
Sadiq’s death comes two years after Gaya, a former governor of Kano State, lost his wife Halima, in May 2020.
He has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
