Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has worshipped with Catholic bishops at a mass held in Durumi, Abuja.
His visit comes ahead of the bishops’ annual conference beginning on Monday.
Prof. Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, tweeted on Sunday saying the bishops publicly welcomed the nation’s number two citizen, saying his presence at times like this “makes us feel we are together.”
The bishops had directed Catholic faithful to dress in black on Ash Wednesday to protest the spate of insecurity across the country.
They also directed a ‘Day of Prayer Procession’ against “the repeated barbaric executions of Christians by the Boko Haram insurgents and the incessant cases of kidnapping for ransom linked to the same group.”
