Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was forced to return to the Presidential Villa by road on Thursday after the helicopter that took him the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Abuja made a forced landing about 30 seconds after take-off.
Osinbajo was special guest of honour at the graduation of 40 senior Customs officers.
Punch reports that after he took some group photographs with the graduands, the Vice President was accompanied by other top officials to the location where the helicopter was waiting for him.
Few seconds after the helicopter took off; it was forced to make an emergency landing for technical reasons.
Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, confirmed that Osinbajo returned to the Presidential Villa by road and continued with his schedule.
“VP Osinbajo attended the graduation ceremony of Nigeria Customs Senior Course in Gwagwalada today (Thursday).
“On his way back, it was decided, for technical reasons, not to fly the chopper that had brought him to the venue.
“He drove back to the Presidential Villa and continued his schedule,” Akande wrote.

Also present at the Gwagwalada event were the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai; Chief of Air Staff, Sadiq Abubakar; Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Hameed Ali and other top officials of the government.
