“My father, Mr Femi Otedola, has been at the forefront of supporting worthy causes,” Tolani said.
“It is in this spirit that he will be donating the sum of N5 billion to the children of Borno, Adamawa and Katsina through the Save the Children.”
Vice-President Yemi Osinbjao was at the event alongside Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, and daughter Halima, and the minister of industry, trade and investment, Niyi Adebayo.
Dangote, who is Cuppy’s godfather, made a donation of N100 million.
Cuppy, an ambassador of the Save the Children UK, a non-governmental organisation, said her foundation, which was launched in August 2018, was inspired by a trip to Maiduguri, Borno State.
She added that the foundation is a way of giving back to the less fortunate.
