Nigerian billionaire businessman Femi Otedola hosted fellow entrepreneur and philanthropist Tony Elumelu at his residence in Dubai on Thursday night.

Mr Otedola shared a post on Instagram on Friday, expressing his pleasure at hosting Elumelu, whom he referred to as “African Pride.”

Otedola, 62, is the chairman of FBN Holdings Plc, the parent company of First Bank of Nigeria Limited.

Mr Elumelu, 61, is the chairman of United Bank for Africa.

“It was a pleasure to host my good friend ‘African Pride,’ Tony Elumelu, at my Dubai residence last night. Building bridges, sharing visions, and celebrating excellence!” Otedola wrote.

The meeting comes against the backdrop of a history of professional rivalry and personal grievances between the two business titans.

In 2023, Otedola made headlines with a statement detailing his fallout with Elumelu over the control of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp).

Otedola and Elumelu are known for their impact on the African business landscape, with interests spanning energy, finance, hospitality and philanthropy.
