President Bola Tinubu has described the death of Access Holdings chief executive Herbert Wigwe, former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc Abimbola Ogunbanjo and four others in a helicopter crash as overwhelming tragedy.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday by the president’s spokesman Ajuri Ngelale.
The statement said, “President Tinubu mourns these exceptional Nigerian business leaders and describes their passing as an overwhelming tragedy that is shocking beyond comprehension.”
According to Mr Ngelale, President Tinubu “condoles with the Wigwe and Ogunbanjo families, the business community, and all those impacted by this harrowing incident.”
The statement added that the president “prays for the peaceful repose of the departed and asks God Almighty to comfort the multitude of Nigerians who are grieving and the families of the deceased at this deeply agonizing moment.”
Wigwe died alongside his wife Chizoba and first son Chizi in the helicopter accident which occurred in the United States of America on Friday, February 9.
He is survived by three children Tochi, Hannah, and David.
