The remains of the ex-vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Prof. Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe were interred on Tuesday at the Holy Trinity Cathedral Church, Omofe, Ilesha, Osun State.
Present at the funeral service were Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola, wife of the deceased Olusola Ibidapo-Obe and the children, UNILAG vice-chancellor Prof. Toyin Ogundipe and former UNILAG pro-chancellor Wale Babalakin.
Others at the event include the Asiwaju of Ijesaland Yinka Fasuyi, chief of staff to Osun governor Charles Akinola among others.
In his remarks, Oyetola said Prof. Ibidapo-Obe put Osun on the world map. He also said the late academic would remain a signpost for posterity.
Oyetola, who was represented by the secretary to the state government Wole Oyebamiji, declared that the state government was proud of the late university administrator and advised the children and family of the late Ibidapo-Obe to keep alive his legacies.
He said, “Professor Ibidapo-Obe was an epitome of Omoluabi ethos of discipline, selflessness, hard-work, honesty, integrity and a model to our teeming youths.
“He left behind a legacy of outstanding service, virtue, and integrity which has put the State of Osun on the world map and has remained a signpost for posterity.”
