Former chairman of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, has said that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has made the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) his employees.
Odinkalu was reacting to reports on Friday about the governor proscribing the group and taking control of all motor parks in the state.
The governor’s chief of staff, Bisi Ilaka, had said on Friday that the decision which took immediate effect, was taken after deliberation with stakeholders.
Odinkalu, in a tweet afterwards, said: “Oyo State’s @seyiamakinde just made all the thugs of the Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) his employees!”
Two factions of the union have been at loggerheads over leadership of the union since Makinde’s inauguration on Wednesday.
