An explosive device went off on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti State, sending residents into panic.
The explosion, which occurred at the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) office of the Police headquarters located on Old Governor’s Road, however, saw no casualties.
Ekiti police commissioner, Amba Asuquo, linked the explosion to bomb detection devices kept in the area which may have exploded by technical occurrence.
Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation in Ekiti, Olumuyiwa Olomilua, said in a statement that the area has been secured with no further threats.
“Members of the public are advised to go about their normal duties,” he said.
