General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has called for the release of TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, popularly known as Seaking.
Speaking at the church’s February Holy Ghost service held at the 3km by 3km auditorium in Simawa, Ogun State on Friday.
In a video of his sermon at the service that began trending on Saturday, Adeboye clarified that he had no hand in SeaKing’s arrest, stating that certain individuals, angered by the TikToker’s remarks, took the decision to arrest him.
The cleric referenced this year’s prophecies, noting that mockers of the divine would become more vocal and aggressive.
Adeboye said in part, “God told us at the beginning of this year that mockers will be more active, they would become bolder, even hot.
“I heard that there is someone who lambasted me thoroughly. What is my offence? Because I asked my people to fast for 100 days. I didn’t ask him o.”
“I was told that some people are so angry and they went and arrested him. Release him! He is fulfilling prophecy,” Adeboye said.
Recall that Seaking was first arrested in December 2024 after posting a video in which he criticised President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.
He was arraigned on charges of treason, cyberstalking and conduct likely to incite public disorder.
The magistrate’s court later granted him bail in the sum of N500,000, with a requirement for two sureties in the same amount.
The TikToker was re-arrested on Thursday during his appearance in court and taken to Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja before being flown to Abuja.
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore visited Seaking, along with several lawyers, while in police custody in Abuja on Friday. He reported that they were informed his arrest was based on a petition from Paul Adama, who used the name of a Christian association affiliated with FPRO Adejobi Olumuyiwa.
The petition alleges cyberbullying during a live session in December.
He added that the petition was submitted on behalf of Adeboye.
