Adeboye speaks on priests dying of coronavirus

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, has shared his thoughts on priests dying of coronavirus.

More than 50 Catholic priests have died of coronavirus around the world, the majority being in Italy, since the disease broke out last December in Wuhan, China.

In his live broadcast on Sunday which began at 9 am, Adeboye re-emphasised his earlier comments that those who really serve God will not be infected with the virus.

He said: “Some people disagreed with me when I said coronavirus will not visit God’s children. They said ‘What about priests who are dying? Are they not God’s children?’

“Does being a priest make you holy? Haven’t you heard of bishops who molest people? So the Lord knows those who really serve him.”

Adeboye said genuine children of God, who are not appointed to die now, should not be afraid.

Citing Ezekiel chapter 2 verse 5, during his sermon titled “Peace Be Still” the RCCG leader said: “When I spoke to my daddy about my pains on those who are dying of the virus around the world, He assured me that; only those whose appointed time has come will die, so when your appointed time has not come, relax and enjoy your holiday.

“I am also on a compulsory holiday. I was supposed to be in four nations this April for ministers’ conferences and Holy Ghost services but now I cannot go. All I do now is wake up in the morning, eat a good meal and enjoy the day. Is that not a good thing.”
