A professor emeritus of agricultural engineering, Aboaba was a former dean of the Faculty of Technology at the University of Ibadan.
He was also a member of the board of trustees of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and chairman of the technical advisory board and lands committee of the church.
Until his death, the professor officiated regularly at special Holy Ghost Nights of the RCCG. He played the role of introducing Adeboye to the podium to minister on such occasions.
