The suspended senior pastor of City of David Parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Idowu Iluyomade has been seen at occasions in recent times.
On Saturday, he was at technocrat Nkiru Olumide-Ojo’s 50th birthday party in Lagos.
However, on Sunday, he attended the wedding reception of businesswoman Bola Shagaya’s son in Abuja.
Shagaya’s son Muktar married Ayotola, daughter of Senator Tolu Odebiyi. The wedding reception had several dignitaries in attendance including governors, former governors, lawmakers, businessmen and businesswomen. The couple earlier had a traditional wedding in Lagos, then Shagaya hosted her new daughter-in-law to a mothers’ only event in Abuja.
Iluyomade went to the wedding reception with his wife Siju. He however went alone to Olumide-Ojo’s party.
Shagaya was at the party Iluyomade’s wife held in Lagos just one week after a prominent member of the RCCG City of David Parisj and key financier, the former group chief executive officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba and son Chizi and several others died in a helicopter crash in California, United States on February 9.
Many said the party, which saw highlife singer Flavour serenade Mrs Iluyomade, was done in bad taste.
Iluyomade, also called PID, was suspended on June 1 for three months by the council of elders which is investigating some allegations against him.
The cleric was suspended over the church’s finances and his alleged resistance to be transferred from the parish.
He was replaced by Pastor Charles Kpandei of the church’s Resurrection Parish, Region 11.
Since his suspension, Iluyomade and wife have been off social media.
