Pastor Idowu Iluyomade resisted transfer from City of David — Report

Idowu Iluyomade

The suspended senior pastor of the City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Lagos State Idowu Iluyomade allegedly resisted transfer to another parish, a source has said.

QEDNG reported earlier that Iluyomade was given a suspension letter for three months over the weekend.

The letter stated his replacement as Pastor Charles Kpandei of the church’s Resurrection Parish Region 11 with immediate effect.

Iluyomade’s suspension came months after his wife Siju’s elaborate 60th birthday celebration at Eko Hotel and Suites.

The celebration was held one week after a top member of the parish Herbert Wigwe, a banker, died alongside his wife and son and others in a helicopter crash in the US on February 9.

Iluyomade’s wife’s celebration was considered insensitive by many.

It was not immediately clear if Iluyomade was relieved of his position as special assistant to the RCCG general overseer on Christian social responsibility through His Love Foundation.

PUNCH learnt from a source that the pastor was suspended on two issues bordering on the audit of the church and his alleged resistance to be transferred from the parish.

“The church’s governing council met on two issues, the issue of an audit of the church where questions were asked and the issue that the pastor allegedly resisted transfer,” the source who craved anonymity said, adding that Iluyomade will resume at the church’s headquarters when his suspension elapses.
