Senior pastor of House on the Rock Church Paul Adefarasin on Tuesday celebrated the first posthumous birthday of his mother Hilda Adefarasin.
A nurse and women’s rights activist, Mrs Adefarasin (nee Petgrave) died on Sunday, January 5, 2023.
The former president of the National Council of Women Societies was aged 98.
Pastor Adefarasin said via Instagram that though his mum was late the family cherishes the memories of her.
He wrote, “My mother was a guiding light with great grace, the solid rock in our clan who lived the kingdom life with wisdom, and unconditional love. Though her accomplishments were numerous, it was the warmth of her compassionate heart that left an everlasting impact on the souls of everyone who knew her well. Though strict as a disciplinarian she was profoundly wise, gentle and kind.

“As we commemorate her posthumous birthday, we treasure the memories of her enduring love and the value judgements which she held dear in our family. The lessons she imparted to her descendants continue to shape our journeys.”
Adefarasin’s wife Pastor Ifeanyi also eulogised the deceased on Instagram. “Forever In Our Hearts 🤍 🤍 🤍 We miss you Mummy,” she wrote.
Adefarasin’s mum was buried on March 17, 2023 after a funeral service at Guiding Light Assembly in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The service of songs and night of tributes was held at the Rock Cathedral in Lekki, Lagos.
