Senior pastor of House on the Rock Church Paul Adefarasin on Saturday paid tributes to gospel artiste Sammie Okposo.
Sammie died at the age of 51 on Friday morning. He used to be the choir director at House on the Rock Church in Lagos.
In an Instagram post, Adefarasin described the late singer as a “great warrior” who will be “greatly missed.”
He also described Okposo as a “greatly gifted man” adding that his memory is “forever blessed.”
He wrote, “To a greatly gifted man, eords fail me…Sleep on in the Lord till we meet to part no more.
“Your memory is forever blessed; may The Almighty keep all who love you dearly and share in our great loss in the cover of His mighty wings. We will miss you on this side. Rest in peace great warrior.”
On Friday evening, another cleric Apostle Johnson Suleman criticised pastors who turned their backs at Sammie during his trying moments.
Sammie’s family spoke on his death in a statement.
The family said, “It is with a heavy heart but with total submission to God that I announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, Minister of God, Sammie Okposo.
“Sammie slept and went to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, November 25, 2022. More details about the burial will be communicated soon.
“We are consoled because we know that he is with Jesus singing with angels. We kindly request that the family is allowed to grieve peacefully at this time.”
