Actress Iyabo Ojo has made it clear that she and her partner, music executive Paul Okoye aka Paulo, have no intention of getting married.
The 47-year-old revealed this while appearing on TVC’s Your View, noting that although they are in a committed relationship, tying the knot is not on the table.
“We don’t want marriage,” Iyabo stated plainly.
The actress, who is currently preparing for her daughter Priscilla’s wedding to Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, explained that she and Paulo are both comfortable with how their relationship works.
“Because of the way I work, I am such a workaholic, and he is also a workaholic. That Igbo man likes to work. For me, there are times when I want to be alone, and I just pack my bags and return to my house. We never fight over that because he understands,” she said.
Iyabo added that their relationship is based on mutual respect and personal freedom rather than societal expectations.
The actress first confirmed her relationship with Paulo on her 45th birthday in December 2022, sharing a video montage of their moments together on Instagram.
In a light-hearted interview a year later, Paulo jokingly complained that Iyabo had taken over his life and “snatched” him from his many side chics. S
he responded by saying their relationship is strictly for companionship and fun, not for expanding their families, as they each have two children from previous relationships.
