The son of Brazil legend Pele has been told that he must serve almost 13 years behind bars for drug trafficking and money laundering.
The 46-year-old, whose full name is Edson Cholbi do Nascimento, played as goalkeeper unlike his father who was an attacker.
Edinho says that he will turn himself into police after being ordered to fulfil some of his 33-year drug trafficking sentence.
His lawyer, Eugenio Malavasi, told Reuters: “He is going to turn himself in as soon as the decision is in the system.”
The former Santos shot-stopper has been fighting the charges since 2005.
His appeal was heard by a judge who reduced his 33-year sentence to 12 years and 10 months.
But Edinho’s lawyer claims that he is innocent and will continue to try and win his case.
His father, Pele, is considered by many as the greatest footballer of all time.
Pele won three FIFA World Cup with Brazil while his son never got the opportunity to play for his country.
