President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Francis Johnson, has died.
Mr Johnson died in the early hours of Friday after a brief illness in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Johnson was first elected PENGASSAN president on June 30, 2014.
He was re-elected in 2017 at the association’s fifth Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) held in Abuja after defeating two other contestants, Mohammed Saleh and Emmanuel Eze.
Johnson, an employee of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), was expected to lead PENGASSAN until 2020.
