Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface on Friday said that people do not take him seriously because of the memes he posts on social media.
The 23-year-old wrote in Pidgin English on Instagram that he scrolled passed 7,000 pictures on his phone before finding what he called a “normal football” picture.
He however said he would not stop posting memes.
“No be life I dey live so. Cus I one post pic, I don stroll pass 7k pic before I see 1 normal football pic ,all na memes. Una no rate me self with my memes but I no go stop I go continue,” the football star wrote.
In September, the Bayer Leverkusen striker wrote in Pidgin English on social media that he would soon stop posting memes and joking around as he appeared to be the only one not taking life seriously.
“I go soon stop to dey post memes or catch cruise sef e con dey be like say na only me no take my life serious this year,” he wrote.
Boniface was omitted from the CAF Player of the Year nomination despite last season’s impressive performance.
The award ceremony will take place on December 16 in Marrakech, Morocco.
Reacting to the omission in October, he joked that he was waiting for an award for football stars who are also jesters.
“Rookie of the Season, Team of the Season. No worry I no play AFCON, Na why I dey wait for memes d’Or,” he wrote.
