Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi on Friday attended the burial of actor Amaechi Muonagor in Obosi, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Mr Obi is a former governor of Anambra State.
Others who were present were the commissioner for culture, tourism and entertainment Dom Onyenji, and national president of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas.
Obi prayed that God would help the bereaved family bear the loss.
Onyenji said Amaechi played his roles well while alive and mentored stars in the industry.
AGN president, who was represented by a veteran actor, Steve Eboh, prayed that God would give the bereaved family the heart with which to bear the loss.
In her speech, the state chairman of AGN, Chinyere Anyaegbunam, said the deceased was a father figure in the industry.
Amaechi was born on August 20, 1962.
In 1989, after completing his national service in the NYSC, he worked at NAN briefly before venturing into acting in his first movie as Akunatakasi in Taboo.
In 2016, he was nominated for AMVCA 2017 Best Actor in a Comedy.
Famous for his comical roles on screen, he passed away on March 24, 2024, after a protracted battle with a kidney disease.
