Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has announced the donation of ₦25 million to the IHM Health System in Mmiata-Anam, Anambra State.

The IHM Health System, managed by the Immaculate Heart Sisters, serves as a vital healthcare provider for the rural community of Mmiata-Anam.

The recent donation, made in partnership with Prof. Phillip Ozuah, aims to expand the hospital’s infrastructure and improve healthcare services in the area.

During a visit to the hospital, Mr Obi praised the Immaculate Heart Sisters for their selfless dedication to serving humanity and for providing critical healthcare to underserved communities.

“As for me, investing in critical areas such as health, education, and poverty alleviation is the surest way to drive national growth and development. These sectors form the foundation of a productive and prosperous society,” Obi said.

Obi’s donation follows an earlier contribution of ₦75 million last year to the IHM Specialist Hospital in Nkpor, also managed by the Immaculate Heart Sisters.

The former Anambra State governor expressed gratitude to the hospital’s management and staff for their commitment to improving lives under challenging circumstances. He reiterated his determination to support institutions that strengthen communities and foster development nationwide.

Superior General of the congregation, Rev. Mother Maureen Akabogu, expressed heartfelt appreciation for Obi’s generosity. She noted that the sisters had never experienced such acts of love and charity and assured him of their prayers.

Obi was accompanied on the visit by Professors Chinyere Stella Okunna and Patrick Obi.
