Former presidential candidate Peter Obi on Saturday paid a visit to the family of the late actor Junior Pope.
The movie star was buried in his hometown Ikpogwu Ukehe in Nsukka, Enugu State on Friday.
Mr Obi posed for photographs with the actor’s children and consoled them and their mother. He also signed the condolence register.
The former governor of Anambra was accompanied by actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo who posted pictures and videos of the visit on social media.
The body of 43-year-old Junior Pope arrived his village in the early hours of Friday followed by a funeral service at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, Ukehe.
After a brief sermon, the officiating priest prayed for the family of the deceased, adding that “the lord gives and the lord taketh.”
Junior Pope’s family, friends and colleagues could not hold back tears as his body, laid in a white casket, was lowered to the ground in his compound after the church service.
The venue was surrounded by security operatives, including the police and local vigilante groups who prevented authorised persons from taking pictures and making video recordings.
Celebrities like Zubby Michael, Ruby Ojiakor, Linc Edochie, Queen Wokoma, Chinwe Owoh, Rita Edochie and others attended the funeral.
Junior Pope whose real name was JohnPaul Odonwodo, got married to Jennifer Awele in November 2014 and they had three children together.
He drowned alongside four others on April 10.
