Vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party Datti Baba-Ahmed has been photographed laying flowers at the Buckingham Palace in London in honour of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
A member of the Labour Party, Oseloka Obaze, tweeted the photograph of Baba-Ahmed on a “private visit” to the UK.
Laying of flowers at the palace is an age-long tradition to show solidarity with the Royal Family and to honour the dead.
Queen Elizabeth died on Thursday at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle, Scotland. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her death.
Queen Elizabeth was Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, sitting on the throne for over 70 years. She witnessed multiple governments in the United Kingdom and was adored by many people across the world.
Many of the world’s leaders have offered their condolences on the passing of the queen, including President Muhammadu Buhari.
Baba-Ahmed also paid tributes to her.
“I offer my condolences to the people of the UK. The passing of Her Imperial Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is a loss to Royalty as it is to the people of UK,” he was quoted as saying.
