Singer Peter Okoye has intensified his support for the former governor of Anambra State Peter Obi after the latter’s withdrawal from the presidential race.
Mr Obi informed the national chairman of the PDP in a letter dated May 24 that his withdrawal from the party took effect on May 20.
Reacting in a Twitter post on Wednesday, Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P, pledged his loyalty to the former presidential aspirant, promising to follow Obi anywhere the latter goes.
He wrote: “Anywhere he goes we move with him!…. No time! We are following him as an individual not because of a Party!…. We move!”
Obi tweeted a copy of the letter on Wednesday. “It has been a great honour to contribute to nation-building efforts through our party. Unfortunately, recent developments within our party make it practically impossible to continue participating and making such constructive contributions,” the letter reads.
“My commitment to rescuing Nigeria remains firm, even if the route differs,” he added.
The development followed a meeting Obi held at the official residence of the UK Prime Minister on Monday.PDP presidential primary is slated for this weekend in Abuja.
Frontline aspirants for the party’s presidential ticket include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
