Ogun State Police Command on Thursday arraigned seven pharmacy employees in an Ota Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing items worth N50 million from employer.
The suspects are Yakubu Adede, 56; Oluwafemi Bankole, 62; Sakiru Lawal, 57; Samuel Ejeikwu, 37; Christian Udochukwu, 36; Peter Edet, 22, and Miracle Okorondo, 26.
They were slammed with three counts of stealing, burglary and conspiracy.
Police prosecutor, Abdulkareem Mustaph, told the court that the accused and others still at large, committed the offence between July 2017 and March 2019.
Mustapha alleged that the suspects broke into the pharmacy, Greenlife Pharmaceutical store, and stole 5,000 bags of soap, noodles and other valuable items worth N50 million.
The offence, according to him, contravened the provisions of sections 413, 390(4)(g) (f) of the Criminal Code Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
Chief magistrate Mathew Akinyemi granted the suspects bail of N5 million each with two sureties each in like sum.
Akinyemi also ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun State Government.
The case was adjourned until June 10 for further hearing.
