Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has shared photos of his time at the Muson Centre on Thursday for the burial ceremony of the father of accounting in Nigeria Akintola Williams.
Williams died aged 104 on September 11.
In his social media post, Mr Sanwo-Olu said Nigeria had lost a legend, adding that Williams was a true Lagosian.
“Today, I joined the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Dapo Abiodun, former governor of Ogun State Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mr. Jim Ovia, and other eminent Nigerians to bid farewell to Chief Akintola Williams.
“He was an outstanding Nigerian and a true Lagosian. Indeed, we’ve lost a legend.
“At 104, Chief Akintola Williams lived a remarkable life. He blessed us with leadership and an enduring legacy. May his soul continue to rest in peace. Amen,” said Sanwo-Olu.

Williams was a strong advocate for developing the accounting profession in Nigeria. He was a founding member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and was president from 1963 to 1965. He was also a member of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors.
The deceased received many awards and honours, including the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) and the Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM). He was also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
