Reigning Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Plateau United has dislodged Kano Pillars atop of the standings following Wednesdays’ hard-fought 1-0 win over Enugu Rangers.
Pillars climbed to the league’s summit after holding Rangers to a 1-1 stalemate on Sunday.
But Kenedy Boboye’s men, still with a game at hand, returned to their rightful place at the New Jos Stadium.
Former U-23 Eagles defender, Chizoba Amaefule, scored the decisive goal 13 minutes before the end of the game.
The Jos-based club who previously occupied sixth position in the table now sits at the top of the log with 18 points, one above Pillars.
Impressively, they are also yet to concede a goal at home in the NPFL this season.
Next up for the defending champions is a date with Yobe Stars on Sunday, while Pillars host Go Round.
