Supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari, in their thousands, have filled up the Muhammad Dikko Stadium for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally in Katsina.
Reports say that the stadium holds 35,000 spectators.
Buhari, however, has departed Abuja for Katsina.
A presidential media aide, Bashir Ahmad, confirmed his departure on Twitter: “President @MBuhari departing Abuja for Katsina, his hometown, to attend his Presidential Campaign Rally at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium…”
There have been reports of traffic gridlock on roads leading to the state capital through Jibia, Batsari, Kaita, Daura, Mani, Dutsinma and Kankia, as the party’s supporters move to attend the rally.
