The police on Monday arraigned two men Ademola Egunlae and Oluwafemi Ajayi at a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti over an alleged attempt to murder Odunayo Arinka, an aide to Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
Egunlae, 52, and Ajayi, 65, were charged with conspiracy, threatening violence with offensive weapons and attempted murder.
Police prosecutor Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi informed the court that the alleged offences were committed on December 22, 2024, and contravened Sections 421, 46, and 241 (a) & (b) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State.
Oriyomi requested that the accused be remanded in custody, arguing that there was probable cause.
However, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted bail to the accused in the sum of ₦250,000 each, with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned to February 14, 2025, for hearing.
