A 38-year-old manager with an Oando station Ademola Olayemi on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his employer’s N1.487 million.
Mr Olayemi, who resides at 40, Enibegiloju Street, off Odogunyan in Ikorodu, Lagos, is charged with stealing.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Police prosecutor ASP Akeem Raji told the court that the defendant stole the sum of N1.487 million from one Paul Olugbodi.
Mr Raji said that the defendant committed the offence on November 14, at 2.00 pm at Oando filling station, old Abeokuta Motor Road, Agege in Lagos.
The prosecutor stated that the defendant allegedly converted the proceeds from sale of petrol to his personal use.
“All attempts made to retrieve the money from the defendant proved abortive,” he said.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 287(7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State. 2015.
Chief Magistrate O. I. Adelaja granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Mrs Adelaja said that the sureties must be gainfully employed, with evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State government.
The magistrate adjourned the case till December 16 for mention.
