The police have arrested a serving soldier who worked for kidnap kingpin, Chukwudi Dumeme Onuwamadike, popularly known as Evans.
Lance Corporal Victor Chukwunonso with service number 09/NA/64/6317 was arrested by the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari arrested around 9pm in the Ojo area of Lagos on Friday.
Chukwunonso was arrested based on the confessions of Evans who was arrested in his Magodo Estate home in Lagos State on June 10, 2017.
He was said to have been arrested by Kyari and his team “after weeks of painstaking surveillance on him”.
The serving soldier, native of Onitsha in Anambra State, is attached to the Nigeria Army Band Corps, Abalti Barracks, Surulere, Lagos.
He confessed to have gone with Evans for kidnapping in Lagos State three times and got N2 million, N1.5 million and N3 million as his share of the ransoms paid.
