Police in Lagos have begun a search for the driver who ran into Olaolu Mudasiru, the co-founder and deputy managing director of an investment and asset management firm, Vetiva Capital Management.
The businessman was cycling with two friends on Sunday morning when a car hit them on Gerrard Road in the upscale neighbourhood of Ikoyi, Lagos and drove away.
The two others crushed by the driver are receiving treatment at the Lagoon Hospitals, Ikoyi.
Lagos police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin said that although no arrest has been made they are already looking for the driver.
“As a result of the accident, victims sustained injuries on their bodies and were rushed to Lagoon Hospital, Bourdillon, Ikoyi, where Mudasiru later died, while others are still responding to treatment.
“Based on the report, a team of traffic personnel visited the hospital. The corpse was inspected and photographed. The corpse was deposited at a public morgue for an autopsy.
“Meanwhile, effort is ongoing to track down the fleeing driver. Investigation is in progress, and we have not made any arrest,” he said.
Mudasiru was also the first son of a former military administrator of Lagos State, Gbolahan Mudasiru, who died in 2003.
