The police have launched an investigation on the chief executive officer of Blord Group of Companies Linus Williams aka Blord for alleged fraud among other allegations.
Spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed the development in a brief statement on Tuesday titled “Alleged Fraud, Violation of Cbn Act, Police Interrogates CEO Blord Group of Companies, Linus Williams.”
Adejobi assured that the police would be diligent in the investigation, adding that Nigeria’s cyber space must be secured.
The statement said, “The FCID (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating complaints lodged against Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Ltd, Blord Jetpaye Limited, and Billpoint Technology. These offences include allegations bothering on cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks.
“We will do due diligence in our investigations. Our cyber space in Nigeria must be safe and secured by all means. We are committed to achieving that.”
Controversial social media influencer VeryDarkMan first broke the news of Blord’s arrest on his Instagram account on Monday.
“BLORD HAS BEEN DETAINED BY FCID IN ABUJA….lets see his influence now✌️who get influence no dey shout @npf_nccc I have more people to bring ooooo,” he wrote.
VeryDarkMan claimed he was responsible for Blord’s arrest and had asked him to improve his services due to complaints about people losing money on his platform.
VeryDarkMan and Blord have been at each other’s throats on social media.
On Tuesday, the influencer said in another post, “Truth is BLORD might be spending A long tIME THERE, unless he can prove ag@!nst what he has been alleged ….sad part is @npf_nccc don’t take bride that is why poor man like me can comfortably go and submit a petition and they will give me result, they don’t do religion or tribe there, connection don’t work there AT ALL they just f!g#t cr!me”cyber cr!me.”
